UTTARAKAND SAHAKARI CHINI MILLS SANGH LTD. (UTTARAKHAND SUGARS)
Near Railway Crossing Badripur Road Jogiwala Dehradun was setup in 2003 after formation of the new state Uttarakhand to cater the needs of the Four Co-operative & Two Corporation Sugar mills in the state of Uttarakhand. The apex body works towards development and expansion of sugar industries in the state. Since its inception it has been playing active role by giving financial, technical and administrative advices and guidelines.
DOIWALA SUGAR COMPANY LTD. DOIWALA
The plant was established in the year 1930 with an open pan boiling plant. It was converted to vacuum pan boiling plant in the year 1933. The crushing capacity of the plant was increased to 900 TCD in the year 1963-64 with the availability of electric power from U.P. State Electricity Board. Initially, the factory had started working under the name and style of M/s Laxmi Sugar Mills Ltd. which was subsequently changes to M/s Vijay Sugar Corporation Ltd. during the season 1940-1941. The factory went into liquidation in the year 1950 and was thereafter run under the name and style of M/s Janki Sugar Mills & Co. Ltd. as a partnership concern. In the year 1956 the management of the factory was taken over by the Central Government which managed it till September 1962. After that the factory was restored to the same partners. Subsequently dispute arose between the partners and the factory was managed for two years by a receiver appointed by the court. The management of the factory was again restored to the partners in October 1966 which continued till March 1971. Thereafter due to cane arrears, the Government appointed a receiver who managed the factory in February 1973. The management of the factory was taken over by M/s U.P. State Sugar Corporation Ltd., Lucknow with effect from 01-02-1973, which had been managed the same through a General Manager till 28-10-1984, when the factory was acquired by U.P. State Sugar Corporation Ltd.
In view of the plant and machinery being very old and obsolete, besides unviable capacity, U.P. State Sugar Corporation decided to expand and modernize the plant to 2500 TCD to make the unit viable. The new plant of 2500 TCD was installed adjacent to the existing plant and commissioned in the year 1989-90.
When the state of Uttaranchal came into existence on 09-11-2000, the unit Doiwala of U.P. State Sugar Corporation Ltd., Lucknow was transferred to the state of Uttaranchal on 16-01-2002, transforming this unit into a company under the name Doiwala Sugar Company Ltd. Doiwala, having its registered office at Doiwala.
KICHHA SUGAR COMPANY LTD. KICHHA
The Kichha Sugar Company Ltd. Kichha, District Udham-Singh Nagar (Uttarakhand) was commissioned in the year 1972 with a rated capacity of 2000 TCD to produce white sugar by the standard carbonation process. The Plant was subsequently expanded to a capacity of 3000 TCD in the year 1984. The capacity was further expanded to 4000 TCD in the year 1992.
The factory is situated at a distance of about 2 Km from Kichha town in Kichha Tehsil of District Udham Singh Nagar and 16 km away from district Head quarters of Udham Singh Nagar. The nearest Railway station Kichha is located 01 Km away from the Mill site and the nearest Airport is only 15 km away, situated at Pant Nagar.
The operational area of the Sugar factory is spread over about 25 km² which covers about 330 villages of three blocks namely Rudrapur, Kotabag and Haldwani. The cane area of the Sugar Mill is approximately 10,423 Hectares.
THE KISAN SAHKARI CHINI MILL LTD, NADEHI
The Kisan Sahkari Chini Mills Ltd., Rajpur-Pooranpur-Nadehi established in 1974. It is Just 6 Km. away from the town Jaspur in District Udham Singh Nagar in the state of Uttarakhand. Jaspur is a border town of Uttarakhand and is well connected to other cities through NH-74.
The Sugar Mill Rajpur-Pooranpur-Nadehi initially set with a capacity to 1250 TCD with an of Rs. 750.96 Lac and started its production on 07.03.1977. Its capacity was increased to 2000 TCD in 1984-85. In 1996-97 Sugar Mill was awarded the prestigious “National Technical Efficiency Award for its remarkable performance Plant utilization 113.11%, crushing 48.41 lac Qtls and recovery 9.21 %.
Nadehi Sugar Mill also functions as a Cane society. The Sugar Industry is a critical part of the rural economy in our country. Nadehi Sugar Mill plays an important and constructive role in progress of its Cane Growers, Employees, and social development in the region.
THE BAZPUR COOPERATIVE SUGAR FACTORY LTD, BAZPUR
With the blessings of Late Shri Govind Ballabh Pant, the first Sugar Factory of the state in Co-operative sector was sanctioned in September, 1956, to be set up in Bazpur region to move a step ahead on the road to development and progress. 108 Acres of land was acquired to set up the factory and the initial needs were collectively met by progressive farmers and the Government. The Government supported a sum of Rs. 20 Lac and progressive farmers united to contribute over Rs. 54.42 Lac as share capital. B.M.A. a German Company was called to supply & erect the 1200 T.C.D. capacity plant. The construction work took two and half years. On 16 February, 1959 dream came true. State first Co-operative Sugar Industry was inaugurated by the first Prime Minister of India Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru and the then Chief Minister of state Shri Sampurna Nand headed the ceremony. The opening of the factory provided large scale employment and allowed development of the region in all fields and high profits to farmers. The Sugar factory also provided financial assistance to set up Government Inter College, Community Health Centre, St. Mary’s public School, St. Mary’s health Care Centre and Cane Development society in Bazpur and Government Inter College in other regions like Sultanpur, Haripura Harsan, Gajraula, Bariya Daulat and Dashmesh.
New technologies in sugar production were also incorporated. The production in the plant was gradually increased in different phases. From initial capacity of 1200 T.C.D. to 1600 T.C.D. in 1964-65, 1800 T.C.D. in 1977-78, 3000 T.C.D. in 1981-82 and finally to 4000 T.C.D. in 1991-92. In 1991-92 the carbonation process was converted to double sulphitation process.
The factory has worked a lot in terms of employment, irrigation, road, education and health care facilities. The factory has benefited its 1400 employees directly and another 50,000 related people with their livelihood. Presence of second and even third generation of employees at our units is a certificate of our success.
